Mis Mai / May 2015

Mis Mai / May 2015

Dyma'r diwrnod mawr wedi ein cyrraedd unwaith eto eleni.  Ein diwrnod agored, ble mae'r ardd yn agored i'r cyhoedd dan gynllun y llyfr melyn (NGS).  Mae llawer o waith angen ei wneud er mwyn cael yr ardd yn edrych ar ei ora.  Chwynnu, tocio, llenwi bylchau mewn borderi a torri'r lawnt.

Our open day
Lorraine our trusty helper decorating the garage

Anna & John Hicks set up their plant stall ready to entice prospective gardeners to buy

A simple table decoration to make the weary gardener feel welcome

Pob blwyddyn ers 2004 rhaid gosod targed er mwyn ei gwblhau cyn y diwrnod mawr.
Eleni y llwyfan Auricula oedd y targed.  Fe gynlluniodd Jon hwn i ffitio mewn i hen ddrws y sied.

Auricula theatre designed by Jon for the open day

The right plant for the right place.
This golden saxifrage was bought as a 4" pot plant
and planted on the shady rock face behind the house.
It now covers a vast area and is shared amongst friends and relatives.

Another star in the garden.
Wild garlic has naturalised over the years and is a most welcome addition to many areas of the garden although not all!

Clychau'r Gog yn y gwair.
Bluebells naturalised within the grass together with stichwort

Natur ar ei ora.
What better than to let nature take its course.  Here we have a purple flowering dicentra with its grey dissected leaf in amongst geranium and wild garlic.  No need for intervention by the gardener here!

Rhedyn o bob math yn dechra'r flwyddyn gyda tyfiant pensaerniol iawn
Fern of all shapes and size, start their growth by unfurling magnificent fronds

Rhai planhigion fwy anarferol ac anghyffredin!

The wire-netting bush - Korokia has small grey leaves on branches that zigzag, yellow flowers and red berries.  A great talking point

Lathraea clandestina - purple toothwort, a root parasite

One clematis or two?
Clematis Francis Rivis together with C. Broughton Bride flowering at the same time

Now is the time to weed out goosegrass before it sets seed.
One years seeding seven years weeding!

Dyn y mel.
Time to deal with the bees and make sure that they have enough stores to see them through the cold spell of weather which we are still susceptible to in May
